‘CARBON ZERO’ STATUS FOR ZABO RACING
Thursday, 19 May: Zabo Racing has announced that it has become the first team in the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship to offset its ‘Carbon Footprint’ and be awarded ‘Carbon Zero’ status.
The Carbon Footprint Certification was presented to the team’s driver, Uğur Işık, by managing director of Nous Energy Consulting, Sara Erdogdu. “Zabo Racing is setting the standard for all teams and organizations to be environmentally responsible.” said Işık
In line with his own environmental aspirations and working towards Carbon Free Championships, Class 1 promoter, Nicolò di San Germano, praised the Norwegian team. “I applaud the actions of Uğur and Zabo Racing,” he said. “We have been an active supporter of the Water Manifesto since 1998 and looking at ways to reduce our environmental impact is a priority in all my Championships. H2O Racing is currently working with the Norwegian company, CO2focus AS, to achieve this.”
To earn their (Zabo Racing) ‘Carbon Zero’ status the team’s Carbon Footprint was calculated and offset, buying Carbon Credits.
Zabo Racing’s Carbon Offsetting will go towards the funding of the Çakrak Hydroelectric Power Plant Project in the North East part of Turkey. “We are proud to be officially recognized as supporting the fight against Global Warming, and acknowledged as pro-actively participating in protecting the environment,” said team manager Adrian Annett. “I must thank Ugur Işık for his enthusiasm in addressing this issue on behalf of Zabo Racing, and his efforts to see everyone within the sport race Carbon Free.”
