AOPC New Race Format at Mackay and Townsville Events
The Offshore Superboat Championship will have a new 2 race format for the Mackay and Townsville events.
Having 2 races on the same day will be great for race fans with the Mackay race 1 on Sunday 27th June starting at 11am and running for 30 minutes then race 2 starting at 1pm and running for 40 minutes.
It will be equally important for team to have reliability with their race machines as each of the 2 races carry full competition points and a failure to finish can put you behind in the race for the overall championship.
The Townsville event the following weekend will be run on the same schedule with the added entertainment of ski racing, Jet Ski racing and a Wakeboard display.
The boats will be on display at the pit area at Breakwater Marina Saturday and Sunday.
With the news of the international offshore team from Qatar coming to race Mackay and Townsville we also see the return of two regular teams who missed the 1st round at Newcastle.
Team 3 in Supercat will return from racing duties in New Zealand where they flew the Australian flag high with 2nd place overall for the 8 race season.
Saracen in Supercat 600hp will also return to the series and are very keen to catch up on points to the other teams in their class.
