Qatar Clinches Maiden F4 Victory

PORTIMAO, Portugal – Sunday, May 22, 2011 – The F4 fleet was reduced to seven before the start flag was raised for their second race of the weekend when Abu Dhabi’s Majeed Al Mansoori withdrew with engine problems.

The pack was down to six after a first turn buoy incident when yesterday’s winner Bimba Sjoholm was unceremoniously flipped over after being chopped up by Team Atlantic’s Matt Palfreyman.

The British driver was penalised with a yellow card but hung onto 3rd place behind Qatar’s Saleh Al Shamlan and Mad Croc’s Filip Roms. China’s Xiong Ziwei enjoyed a ding dong battle with Team Nautica’s Tobia Munthe-Kaas and might have finished in 4th place but for a spin out in his new Moore hull. Ziwei recovered well to finish 5th ahead of Team Singha’s Christian Carlsen.
