RELEKTA READY TO RACE

Friday, 15 April, ABU DHABI (UAE): Zabo Racing’s team principal Jan Zaborowski is confident that Relekta will make the start line for race 2 of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on a possible podium finish and seeing their raceboat floating upside down in the centre of the course, both Zaborowski’s remained upbeat and saw the lighter side of things – ‘I don’t think many of us will sleep tonight’ was Jan’s immediate comment, with Christian saying that ‘he hoped maybe now officials would sign his dunk test form!!’

Looking back on the incident, Zaborowski C was also a little surprised that the boat rolled. “We had a bad start but simply because I didn’t know what was going on,” he said. “We didn’t see the flag and nothing came over the radio, so we were late getting going.

“Then we started to push a little and make up places and maybe we pushed a little too much. But it was a little strange. I think we caught a wave that lift the boat and we jumped sideways into the turn. She turned a little and I was thinking we will just spin out, but she hit the water very hard and went over.”

Christian also pointed out that he and Ugur had been discussing a couple of laps earlier where their limit was. “It seems it was c1 buoy – lap 4.” he said with a smirk.

An all night work vigil by the Relekta crew has put Ugur Isik and Christian Zaborowski back in contention, 18-hours after a spectacular exit from race 1, crashing-out half way round lap 4 when running in fourth place. “The effort by the whole team has been just phenomenal,” said team manager Adrian Annett.
