THE OFFSHORE SUPER SERIES RACES INTO BILOXI, MS. TO KICK OFF THE SEASON!
Smokin’ the Sound 2011 is Just Days Away
The start of the 2011 Offshore Super Series (OSS) sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association (APBA) racing schedule is just days away. May 12 – 15 will soon be here and the Smokin’ the Sound (STS) Race Producers along with their staff have been busy getting all the final preparations to make this years’ experience another stellar one. “Biloxi is always a great venue and the OSS family looks forward to coming home every year. Biloxi was the site of the inaugural 2004 kickoff of OSS and this venue holds a special place in each of our hearts. We look forward to a great season and I can’t think of a better place to start than on the Mississippi Coast.” said Michael (Mike) Mares, OSS Board Chairman.
This year’s race weekend will feature the 2011 debut of Powerboat P1 USA (P1) and the return of the Smokin’ Poker Run. Saturday and Sunday’s racing will showcase teams from both OSS and P1 in two days of action packed competition as the fleets take to the water, some at speeds over 150 MPH, all looking for that checkered flag. Fans can watch the battles from special VIP viewing areas that will include official event apparel along with food and drink vendors. This year’s poker run will feature some of the finest and fastest boats of Stu Jones’ Florida Powerboat Club. Jones stated “I’m thrilled to be participating with the organizers of the STS poker run, and finally visiting Biloxi for my first time. The boating there is fantastic and with top rated casinos, I’m expecting this to be a wide-open- throttle weekend! We’ll have the FPC photo-video team along to capture all the action, and we are pleased to announce TV coverage on Sun Sports for our Powerboating in Paradise TV show. It looks like there is a growing contingent of FPC members signing up for the poker run, so we expect a great turnout! ”
