ZAPCAT RACING ENJOY ANOTHER SUCCESS AT BARRY ISLAND – BLUE SHEETS TAKES LINE HONOURS
Exciting racing was the order of the weekend in Barry as Zapcat Racing came to town following the resounding hit of the 2009 event.
Supported by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, the Barry Island Zapcat Racing Grand Prix provided thrills and spills off Whitmore Bay, along with some dynamic performances and considerable talking points.
It was Bluesheets Racing I who once again came out on top as rounds nine and ten of the National Championship were contested.
Having taken the win in round nine on Saturday, Bluesheets were set to lose out to Gloucestershire-based BladeRun the following day, only for them to be denied 200 metres from the chequered flag following a flip by Delta Jets.
The race restarted and Bluesheets took full advantage to record another Grand Prix victory.
There was good news for local fans as Westgate Buildings came out on top of the second division with two podium finishes, including a win in round ten.
“We’ve had another fantastic weekend in Barry,” comments Martin Jupp, Event Director, Zapcat Racing. “Our thanks go to the Vale of Glamorgan Council once again for all their support in making our Barry Island Grand Prix the stand out meeting it’s become.”
Teams and spectators turned out in force over the weekend as the 2010 season recorded its highest number of competitors so far.
The new Zapcat Evo was also on show to encourage new racers for next season. Potential competitors can get involved in Zapcat Racing for under £10,000, making it one of the most accessible motorsports Worldwide.
“I already can’t wait to come back to South Wales,” continues Jupp. “Hopefully we’ll have even more entrants for the 2011 Barry Island event and give the crowds even more to get excited about.”
