ZAPCAT RACING SET FOR PRESTATYN DEBUT
By ZCR Polygon PR
In a season of many firsts for Zapcat Powerboat Racing, the Pontin’s Prestatyn Zapcat Grand Prix will offer yet another new venue for competitors and spectators alike.
The first of a Welsh double header – Barry Island is next up on 7th and 8th August – the action begins on 24th July at Barkby Beach, with rounds seven and eight of the National Championships taking place on consecutive days.
Those in attendance should expect some big waves for pilots to contend with in what is a regular windsurfing and sailing location.
As well as the National Championships, teams will also be competing for points towards the Team, Mixed, Rookie and Celtic categories.
2009 champions and current leaders Craig Davis and Rob Martin of Bluesheets Racing I will be looking to bounce back after failing to top the podium for the first time this season at the previous Grand Prix in Edinburgh.
BladeRun and Bluesheets I currently lead the way in the Celtic Cup – awarded to the team with most points from Scottish and Welsh Grand Prix events – following their success in the Scottish capital.
“The 2010 season has been really exciting so far, not least because we’ve had the chance to visit so many new venues,” explains Martin Jupp, Managing Director of Zapcat Racing. “I’m sure Prestatyn will be another event to savour on the first leg of our ‘Zapcat Welsh Tour’”.
“Zapcat Racing in the surf never fails to offer the spectacular and boats don’t tend to stay upright for too long!”
Heats will begin at noon and run through the afternoon on each day of what promises to be yet another exhilarating Zapcat weekend.
